I’m convinced as Christians we should have a different appearance about us; An actualization and outlook strange to anyone who we come in contact or converse with . We should have a presence that separates us from the materialistic society that we live in today. As Christians, we should make people feel uncomfortable around us; not in the sense that we aggravate and annoy them, but in the sense they see something greater in us and are uncertain if they have the same. After this uncertainty, curiosity will follow, allowing us to become what Jesus tells us in Matthew 4:19, ” ‘Come, follow me’, Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.’ ” (NIV). By following Jesus, people notice our “abnormal”(different from society) appearance. As a Christian, I want people to feel uncomfortable around me at times. This secures me that I am living a life outside of the Norms in our society today. I also want to feel uncomfortable with myself so complacency never sets in and I strive to reach more people. When I meet a person I want them to tell me there is something different about me; That I radiate, glow, and shine. Not because any aspects of me, my appearance, or of my features; but because when they look at me they see a reflection of Jesus himself. Jesus says in Matthew 5:14 ” You are the light of the world.”(NIV) This is the light I want to shine. I want the world to notice my “abnormal” ways..because only then will they see and allow me to be a Fisher of Men. Will you to live this life of “abnormalities” and let your light shine? When your light shines anything is possible. Jesus says in Matthew 5:15 “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”(NIV) We have the power to affect millions of lives through our light. I challenge you to let your light shine brightly so you will light up the world!
